acupuncture with William Duarte

Acupuncture is among the oldest healing practices in the world originating in and practiced in China for thousands of years. It is a key component of Oriental Medicine, also known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Read more about TCM here. Acupuncture techniques include needling and adjunct skills such as gua sha, cupping, and electronic stimulation.

The theories and clinical approaches of acupuncture are very different from Western Medicine. However, it has been proven both clinically and scientifically that needling directly stimulates the nervous system to improve neuromuscular, vascular and organ/endocrine system function, via meridians or channels which connect different parts of the body.

Meridians move the life energy qi and blood as well as connect the interior of the body with the exterior. Disease results from the disruption or imbalance in the qi flow of the meridians. Acupuncture uses hair-thin needles at specific points along these meridians to remove blockages in the flow of qi and restore and maintain health.

In general, the longer a condition has existed the more treatments will be required. An initial consultation is necessary to evaluate the condition. Our doctor individually designs treatment plans according to your body and needs.

Acupuncture is not painful; however, the insertion of the hair-fine needles may create a qi sensation often described as a feeling of heaviness or pressure. Some patients may experience stronger qi sensations than others.

It is advised not to receive acupuncture on an empty stomach, immediately after consuming a large meal, if very fatigued, or emotionally upset. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. During treatment it’s best to relax and feel free to ask your practitioner any questions you may have.  We recommend that you avoid heavy physical activity directly after receiving a treatment.

Since seeing Dr. Duarte for the first time, I have noticed significant improvements within my body after surgeries I have had and, to my mental health. Receiving treatments from Dr. Duarte also helped me overcome my smoking addiction. I cannot express enough gratitude and will continue to see him regularly.

I was suffering from chronic knee pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, stomach issues etc…, my friend recommended acupuncture with Dr. Duarte. I was sceptical about it. My pcp doctor said “I don’t know what else to do for you” after I saw pain management, rheumatologist, I got injections on one knee, physical therapy, massage, I was told I needed knee replacement, I accepted care for 3 years with all of the above. I decided to give Dr. William Duarte a chance. The first day I came to see him, I got beautiful results, I could walk, now stomach issues are gone, my whole body is healing. I’ve been seeing Dr. Duarte for the past 4 years, THANK YOU, Doctor Duarte for always being processional, knowledgeable, and. Caring.
